Purim is tonight!
Purim is tonight!
Earlier this week NerdDad and I had a little at home date night! We fed the kids an easy dinner of Kid Cuisine and stopped by the Redbox to pick up a light romantic comedy.
Life as We Know It’s commercials looked really cute and funny. The set up was that 2 single people who had mutual friends (but weren’t friends themselves) inherited said friends’ baby to raise together. With our 4 kids, we can always relate to baby comedy and enjoy it greatly!
Overall we thought this was a cute, good movie. As usual, there were high points and low points of this movie. Let’s look at the good first. It was a cute movie with a very cute baby! The interactions where actually new, unique and funny. For example, that baby had food issues as do most of them. Baby food is gross and you never know which a kid will like. So Josh Duhamel goes baby food shopping. He was opening jars and letting the baby smell them. If she liked them, he put it in the cart and other wise it went back on the shelf. Of course that makes any parent laugh. What shocked me was when NerdDad exclaimed, “That is the smartest man I have ever met!”
We all have to be honest. This isn’t truly an original story and I think that was a down side overall to the movie. So while you felt good when the movie was over, you felt you have experienced it before. You definitely know where the story line before the writers reveal it. So if you are looking for innovative, it may not be for you.
Overall it was was a really sweet and funny romantic comedy! If you are looking for a relaxed and fun movie pick Life as We Know It!

i dreamed i had insomnia. how silly, (and exhausting is that?)
i had gone to bed late, the time changed and i dreamed i had insomnia.
the bout had been upsetting/exciting/frustrating/exhausting. i was upset about something silly. and my nightmares(?) proved it.
but it was a new day. i had the best of intentions…

i took care of the necessities (cat box, trash and laundry) remembering that there was a scrimmage tonight. i thought it was at 6.
the scrimmage organizing took a little more time than i had planned, and i was getting a little frustrated. i kept looking at my list wishing i had more checked off. i finally decided that in order to give everyone plenty of advance notice to cancel it at 4. (it was supposed to be at 7) i only had 2 confirmed yes…
checked several more off my list and was feeling pretty good. so i decided to make the casserole i had bought all the ingredients for and they were just sitting in my refrigerator.
back story:
i had gotten an email earlier in the week about the lunch on sunday being chicken divan. which included a recipe. it looked easy enough, but the recipe was a little vague. there was no measurement. and it called for cheese, but it didn’t mention what kind. i did my best at the market gathering what i thought i needed. (ok, i went to the store 3 times because i kept forgetting the soup)
ok back to the adventure:
turns out i gad gotten the wrong cheese and the recipe i got online require way to little cheese i decided to improvise. i figured since the recipe i had gotten intended for that. things went well, the chicken smelled nice.. broccoli was steaming.
viola!

i had most of the things on my list taken care of

until i heard a crack…

i found a solid piece of glass…
i’m not ashamed

guess i’m mopping the floor now

Here in the NerdFamily we love St. Patrick’s Day! We love the food, the fun and the learning! And we love that there is so much out there for free to enjoy!
This year we are going to do our first lapbook! And in typical Frugal Homeschooler fashion we are using a free lapbook template from Homeschool Helper Online. It even has a library list for you!
There are a lot of sources for history on St. Patrick. Of course there is Wikipedia and that is a pretty good piece. There is also a lot of information over on the History Channel site. Or you can just go to the source! CCEL has St. Patrick’s actual confession. It really is an easy read and quite interesting. It helps to separate some of the truth from the myth.
Then it is time for fun and learning! Easy Fun School has a unit study on St. Patrick that is aimed at all ages and even has music. The Activity Village has a ton of fun. They have games, puzzles, stationary, crafts, etc.
So what are your plans for your learning and St. Patrick’s Day? Let me know if you do any of these fun activities. And remember that learning doesn’t have to be expensive.
