Cheap and Easy Throw Together

So I have found another cheap and easy meal. It has been over 95 for so long, I don’t want to be caught in the kitchen. I wanted to find a way to incorporate ramen noodles since they cook in just 3 minutes and are just 17 cents a package. The reason that the noodles are done so quick is because they are already deep fried. Now a lot of the oil in the noodle is washed away in the boiling water so don’t freak about the oil;).

This is more of a process than a recipe so adapt away!

Ingredients:
2 Packages of Ramen Noodles (toss the seasoning)
1/3 stick Butter
2 tsp Garlic
1/4 tsp Chili Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
3/4 tsp Dried Parsley
2 cups Bite sized left over meat (I love leftover BBQ Chicken Thighs)
2 cups Bite Sized left over Veggies (I like leftover BBQ Asparagus and Zucchini)

Process:
Boil noodles, drain and remove from heat. Put butter in the pan and heat until melted. Then add seasonings (including garlic) and stir. When you smell the garlic add meat and veggies, cook until warmed through. Then add noodles and stir all together. Chopsticks are great for separating and stirring the ramen noodles. Once all is warm just serve!

Kiddie Cuteness

So we were having a Target outing today (check out their school stuff for a buck) and I had the most interesting conversation with the NerdPie. Someone in Target asked me if I was done having kids at 4 and I said yes. So the NerdPie asked why we weren’t going to have any more and why did we have 4 kids. I said because our family is just how God wants it. She wanted to know if we wanted the baby that died (miscarriage) too. I said of course but God made it the way He wanted and that we would see the baby again in heaven. She wanted to know if it would stay so small or if it would grow so we could see it. I told her that we would get new bodies in heaven. She was concerned and asked if we would still have eyes and be able to see. NerdBug said that we would still be able to see but we wouldn’t have to throw up anymore. NerdPie was relieved;).

Why You Should Vaccinate

Apparently there is a Measles outbreak in the US. It looks like it was spawned by a combination of international travel and people who weren’t vaccinated. Britain apparently has a measles epidemic due to parents declining to vaccinate their children.

For those who say this isn’t a big deal this has happened in the US in the recent past. From 1989-1991 55,000 people got the measles with 123 deaths.

Go get Vaccinated, don’t assume that living around others who do will protect your children.

Hell’s Kitchen Finale

So here we are at this season’s finale. Christina gets handicapped by having Matt on her team and Petrozza was handicapped by Jen. I think Petrozza shot himself in the foot a little because it was so hard for his team to execute perfectly.

I think it was fitting for Christina to win. I was in a discussion today with someone who didn’t think she had paid the dues in years needed for this. I totally don’t agree. I believe in meritocracy. If she has proven that she has the knowledge and can put it into practice, why shouldn’t she get the job? We talked about if she was authoritative enough. Well, I think she is but the fact she can fire people helps with that. Not that she needs to rule a kitchen in fear but for those who won’t respect her just based on her age, that is how you deal with them.

The other thing for her kitchen to remember is, if you do a good job there is plenty of room in Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants for promotion.

Next Food Network Star Episode 6

So here is a simple 3 minute recap of the last episode of Next Food Network Star. I have to say that Lisa is definitely becoming more likable (and not just because of the comments I have been receiving;). I think that Kelsey is doing well but Tushman is against her because of her age and lack of authority. I think part of her authority issue is that she is short and the pinafore dresses. While those are cute dresses, they aren’t very mature.

I was a little blown away that Shane is out. I have a feeling that he will be picked up by someone, sometime and will be on tv again.

On the whole I think the judges were a bit tough this week. They slammed people from being to pushy with Rachel Ray or not dominating enough. It was very frustrating to watch.

Well, it is VBS week so I hope to post more later!

Hell’s Kitchen 7/1/8

So here we are, down to the final 2 and the last step before the finale. Of course that means that we are at the “Set up your restuarant” challenge.

Christina goes back and starts working on her menu but Petrozza couldn’t focus and went to bed. At 36 hours until opening Christina has a menu and Petrozza doesn’t. Then they start meeting with the designer. The designer wants to see Petrozza’s menu to set the scene and he just throws out some ingredients. Christina seems to have strong opinions. Petrozza likes a celedon green chef’s jacket and flowers. Whereas Christina wants plain black suits and t-shirts. Then they worked on their menus with the sous chefs.

Then Ramsay calls them into his office and says he isn’t sure that he has the right finalists. But then he said he knows he does. That was a mean joke;). He tells them that they are going to New York City. They all pile into the private jet and go. They all get out in the middle of Times Square and the big screen has their names on it. He then tells them that he is going to send them both to Dubai for 5 days to eat at his restuarant and observe there. Christina doesn’t know where Dubai is. Then he took them to London New York and told them they had to cook their signature dish there.

They had 45 minutes to make their dishes. Petrozza is making a filet mignon with a risotto and demiglace. Christina was making an aged NY strip with succatash and fingerling potatoes. The judges were Ramsay’s 5 Executive Chefs. I have seen some of these chefs on a BBC America show. Petrozza won and as a reward he gets to choose first out of the contestants for his chefs. Then Whoopi came out. Can we just get to the cooking?!?!?!

Then they came back to LA. Petrozza is very happy with his dining room but Christina is not happy at all. Then they all go to sleep.

Next up is choosing their staffs.

Christina’s line up: Corey, LouRoss and ???
Petrozza’s line up: Bobby, Ben and ???

I think there wasn’t a lot of cooking in the episode and I find that dissapointing. This was very predictable if you have ever seen the previous seasons. But next week should be very good! See you then.
