How to get a boy to do his work.

So here is the issue I need advice on. As everyone knows, I homeschool a 6 year old boy (NerdBug). When I sit him right next to me and am on him like white on rice, he gets his homework done in about 1/3 of the time. So should I sit on him to get him to do it or let him fritter away his day? If he is left to spend forever, what activities should the homework replace? IE, we stop homework to eat, do chores but should all free time be up for grabs? He is only 6. By the way, if he just does the work with me it only takes 30 minutes to an hour a day.

Thanks in advance for the advice

Easy Tilapia

Tilapia is a mild white fish that is very affordable (I just got some this weekend for $3.99/lb). I get it frozen and sealed in plastic. If fresh or freshly thawed it doesn’t have any fishy smell. Since I cook the easy way, this is a very simple recipe.

Ingredients:
Seasoned Bread Crumbs
Seasonings (I use Pappys, could be any combo of chili, paprika, salt and pepper)
Tilapia Fillets

Process:
Mix Bread Crumbs and Seasonings. Dredge fillets in mixture and fry in hot skillet with oil. How you know when to turn it is when the fillet is white half way up the meatiest point. Then flip and finish cooking until white all through.

That is it!

Why I Sneez, Shiver, Hiccup, and Yawn

This was a good book on reflexes that we read aloud over the weekends. The kids loved the illustrations and activities included in the back. It was a simply put book that explained why you have physical reactions to some things. It could have been an independent read except for just a few words. I like that they included real phrases such as plantar reflex yet keep it simple enough for kids to grasp. I would recommend this book!
