I have found a great site with free education games for kids. PlayKidsGames.com has all kinds of games from math, vocab, letters, geography, etc. The math games even have a straight rapid math facts game. You can pick your grade levels on a variety of the games. The Nerdlings will start using it tomorrow! Stay tuned for more free educational sites.
So this looks very cool. It can sleep 4, is plumbed and has electricity. I am wondering if it sways as you walk in it. You too can have one of these for only a base price of $150,000.
Here is my punch recipe for this months Liquid Dreams. I make this for just about every major event and it is always a hit. Finally a punch that isn’t just sugary sweet.
Ingredients: 2 cups Apple Juice 12 oz Pineapple Juice (2 little cans) 1 can (12 oz) Cranberry Juice Concentrate, thawed and undiluted 1 can (6oz) Orange Juice Concentrate, thawed and undiluted 5 cups (about) Club Soda, chilled
Combine all ingredients except Club Soda and mix. Add Club Soda just before serving. Serve over ice. I mix up the base the day before and just mix it almost 1:1 base to soda. You probably need to make a double batch because it goes so fast!
There does seem to be a little discussion as to the authenticity of this. I think it is real. I also think it is cool. I would love to see the plans and have my kids build part of this. Hey, I would rather my kids build me one that would fold laundry…Off to ponder the possibilities… (HT: Instapundit)
The History Channel is giving away some free history! Just request one, all or some combination of the unit studies. They are 4 different areas: The Declaration of Independence, Missouri River, The National World War II Memorial and the White House. They are also for grades K-12, depending on the study. Just give them your info and they ship it to you for free.
**Updated: I have now included a link! I thought I had before but….
Once again New York City has a new ban. This time it is parents smoking in a car with kids. Now I don’t smoke, don’t like smoking, can’t have people smoke around me and I have asthma. Those issues are not the issue. The issue is how much control should the government have? This is private property with their own kids. It is a slippery slope. Smoking around your kids is bad. So is cussing, eating cookies, not getting enough sleep, etc. So are we going to fine everything? Will there be a checklist for raising your kids? I think the biggest thing that scares me about this is that I live in California and can see it happening here.
This also reveals a truth I have known for a while. Bloomberg may be a Republican but he is not conservative. While he hasn’t signed off on this specific law he did have some comments pertaining to this subject.
When asked in January about a similar proposal in Rockland County, Mr. Bloomberg said people should have the right to smoke in their own cars, but “if it’s a child in the car, who doesn’t have the ability to speak up and protect themselves, then society does start to have an interest.”
So we have had a couple of crazy things happen amid our chaos. So while NerdDad was in the hospital I needed a new book of checks. I came home one night from the hospital and dug around in a box in the office and found a partial book of checks. I proceeded to write a whole bunch of checks. Normally, I write 2 checks a week. On this week I paid all the odds and ends that were left over from when I had the baby. I think I wrote 12 checks that week. Well, I get a call from a friend I wrote a check to and she said the account was closed. I then looked at the book of checks and it was off an account that had been closed for 4 years. I had the same check design and the same printer, I just hadn’t looked at the bank. Do you know how dumb I feel. I go on to tell me best friend, Sara. Her response? What is very sad for NerdMom is very funny for Sara;).
So skip to tonight. Here is a little fact, washer machines shimmie when they are washing and the front loaders are the worst. NerdDad starts a load and comes back downstairs. Then we hear this bang. Not only had our Costco sized detergent fallen, the cap had broke off and poured soap all over the floor. Oy! You just have to take a step back and chuckle or it will kill you.
You have to read the crazy results I got. I don’t know if I agree but it is interesting! I am interested to see how many of you would agree with its synopsis. Go take one yourself. If you do just let me know in the comments!
