So NerdDad and I have settled on a Homeschool philosophy and are preparing to start it. We have settled on the Well Trained Mind philosophy that uses Story of the World. Believe it or not, I think we are going to go a little free form with it so we can see what the NerdBug will really be interested in. I love that it isn’t textbook dependent. I am wondering where I can find support and resources. I found a couple yahoo groups but they don’t seem very active. Is there an online group that all you WTM people use? Any specific resources you just couldn’t live without? I am taking all input!
Now I have 4 kids and I am out of Nerd nicknames. So I am polling all of you to get some suggestions. I have names for the older 2 but not the younger 2. So here is what I have and their descriptions.
NerdBug is the oldest, he is 6.
NerdPie is next and she just turned 4.
#3 is an energetic 2 year old boy.
#4 is a cute newborn girl.
I am looking for long term nicknames so if you have any suggestions please leave me a comment.
Yes, I realize it has been a very long time since I have blogged regularly. I apologize to my readers (if I have any left;). Life has been very crazy around here for a while. We have moved in the last 8 months, I was pregnant, still trying to sell the old house, on bedrest for 6 weeks and just had a little baby girl by C-section. So there is my sob story;).
Life here is starting to calm down a little bit so I am going to try to recommit to the blog! So hopefully there will be many blog posts to come soon.
Welcome to the June 12, 2007 edition of carnival of pregnancy. Sorry that is it is so late in coming but I forgot to post it before I went to the hospital. I am proud to announce that we have made our final Nerdling addition. She was born Weds the 13 and was 8lbs 8oz and 21 inches long! We are happy but tired.

My kids all have their birthdays withing 2 months and sometimes it is very overwhelming. Do you give them each a party? If so do you invite all their joint friends to both? Do you have a party for all 3 or just the 2 that are in the same month? What about years like this one? My little girl is June 10th, my c-section is scheduled for the 18th, and the oldest is June 30th. Then we have one more in July. Well, we started doing a special day with just one kid. Last year my little girl (who was turning 3) wanted to go to Toys R Us (where she picked out her brothers’ Birthday gifts), then we went to the school store to get her first school book and then we went to JoAnn’s to get some fairy wings she had wanted for a while. Then just she and I went out to lunch and went home to put her to bed for her nap. Then the birthday kid gets to pick out their dinner (from a list of choices) and the dessert of her choice. My 3 yr old picked out a princess cake while her 5 yr old brother picked out this layered Italian cake he saw on Everyday Italian. My oldest went to see Cars with Dad and the out for burgers and milkshakes. They seemed to not even notice that they didn’t have big party and have talked about it all year. It gives them a little special attention and can take a lot of stress off mom and dad.
