Simple Cards

OK, so this isn’t the most impressive craft but still. Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and we will be out of town next week. So I went to craft night and took the opportunity to get something off my todo list;). All I did was put some beautiful paper on top of a card of purple cardstock. Then I just added some cute chip board letters.

I keep running out of things like note cards and birthday cards. So I went ahead and fronted some more cards. I will add some additional decorations to them depending on the need of the time. I can just throw a birthday tag or a “just a note” chipboard on the top and personalized the inside!

Not my most impressive craft but a great tackle of something I needed to do! Have you done any fun or useful crafts lately?

LilyMe

We are in the age of charms and personalization for said charms. I just got the cutest bracelet with an adorable “love” charm from LilyMe. Now I see why these are so popular. I also love that this bracelet is adjustable! It is that perfect bracelet to wear all the time with anything so it is the perfect design for a sentimental piece.

But this simple bracelet isn’t all that LilyMe does. They have all kinds of necklaces and bracelets with pre-designed charms as well as personalized charms. So you can get a great present with someone’s children, siblings or a memorable verse.
You can us the coupon code “mother” to get 10% off any product at LilyMe!

Meal Plan Monday

I hope that this week is starting off to a great start! I have a busy week running into a crazier week;). But that isn’t a reason to not have good food! So here is the plan.

Tuesday: Ham, Potato Pancakes, Broccoli
Friday: Pasta with Beef and Spinach with a Butter Garlic Sauce

Family Friendly Comic Book!

We love comic books here in the NerdFamily! NerdDad and I both read comic books but finding good ones for that are appropriate for the kids take a little looking. So when I received a review copy of Boy, I’d Hate to be Made Out of That Stuff! through FRN I was stoked!

Lunar Antics sets up this comic series where moon people invade earth to avoid the outrageous tax on the moon. It is advertised as science fiction for normal people;). This is a clean and fun comic. It has some sarcasm and a lot of wit! It is so cute! While the main characters are moon people (who are bright, a bit egotistical and very good at math) the strip is really about humanity.
I recommend this book! I think it is a fun gift for your favorite comic lover be they children or adults! Right now if you order a copy you can get it signed for free! I am a sucker for autographed books;).

And They are Back!

We are onto the 3rd episode of season 2 of Top Chef Masters. This is the episode where last year’s losers will compete;). This will be good.

Rick Moonen, Wylie Defrene, Graham Elliott Bowles, Jonathan Waxman, Mark Peel, and Ludo Lefevbre are all back! (excuse any name mispelling;)

The quickfire is that they will make a dish to go with an exotic drink with vodka in it. Gayle Green and the Housewives of OC are the quickfire judges. When Wylie’s dish came out the wives loved it until Gayle spoke and then Gretchen didn’t like it as much. This girls don’t seem to know a whole lot about food. Ludo wasn’t a big hit and he was freaking about a bit. Jonathan received a perfect score!

The elimination challenge was to take a pub dish and recreate it into an upscale dish. They really went pub with it with things like bangers and mash. Jonathan picked Shephard’s Pie and the rest had to negotiate between themselves. Rick got fish and chips. He should do well with it since he is a fish guy. But I thought is was kind of odd that he thought Mark was not going to do well because he was doing a seafood sausage because that is Rick’s area. Ludo got Irish Stew and that didn’t leave him in a great mood. It seemed to make him real upset that Rick got fish. It looks like Mark’s Yorkshire Pudding didn’t cook all the way.

Ludo’s fish stew seemed odd looking because there were raw veggies in it and it didn’t seem comforting. Rick’s potatoes were hard but of course the fish seemed to be a hit. I think it could bite Wylie that he didn’t make his own sausage for his Bangers and Mash but it looked yummy. Of course Mark’s uncooked Yorkshire pudding being a bit raw was a problem. Jonathan’s potatoes seemed runny on top of the lamb but it seemed to be a hit.

I think the problem with Ludo’s dish is that he didn’t like Irish stew to begin with. So he may have never had a base to go from. Graham seemed to dislike kidneys so he sold his own flavor short. Ludo is sure that the English people have bad food;). Rick got slammed for his thick chips. The reality to me is that the potatoes shouldn’t have been that hard. Does a good piece of fish really wipe out a bad potato?

Jonathan won with his Shepard’s Pie! I think it has inspired me to make one (having never cooked a lamb version). Rick came in second so he is also moving on. But Wylie did get to beat Graham;).

The next group will be cooking for Modern Family. I have been liking this season! See you next week!

Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor Fox News

For those of you who don’t know, I adore George Will. He is a true conservative regardless of party loyalty. He is great in this hilarious interview on Colbert’s show where he talks about baseball (I think he true love), politics and even takes a shot a Reagan. Those of you who are familiar with Will, you will love this. For those of you who aren’t, give it a try. Watch the whole thing and be brave.

55 years ago yesterday (April 18th) Albert Einstein died. At the time it appears that the press pretty much stayed out of the family’s mourning process but there was 1 photographer there. Life Magazine’s Robert Morse went a took a series of pictures but Life only published one. But now there is a gallery online to see. I wonder if a mind like Einstein’s was around much less passed away if the press would notice. In the day of Paris, Lindsay and Brittany would we know if we lost such a true intellectual treasure?

Go check out the pics, very interesting.

Meal Plan Monday

I hope that you guys are all ready for another great week! I am finishing off my freezer cooking so soon I need to refill it! I will probably focus on that toward the end of this week and the beginning of next week. That way I can have the freezer all stocked before I head into a nutty May. But first things first, here is this week’s menu!

Monday: Chicken Kiev, Rice, Broccoli
Thursday: Corned Beef, Sweet Corn Muffins, Broccoli
Friday: Chili, Broccoli Mac and Cheese
