First, watch this. Now don’t pause halfway through and start formulating your arguments. Watch all the way to the end but there is a bad word beeped out.
Stephen Colbert is usually pretty irreverent and chooses to point out ridiculousness that way. But apparently there are somethings you don’t leave unsaid (which I agree with) and hope that people catch. Even someone on Comedy Central can take a stand for God.

Due to the fact I have 4 little ones and homeschool, I need all the help I can find. Simply post a recipe that can be made, frozen and then later reheated(thawed, etc) and consumed. Make sure that you include freezing and reheating instructions in your post. Then come here and add you post (not your blog) into Mr. Linky.
Now for some disclaimers:
If it isn’t a recipe, I will delete it.
If it can’t be made ahead, I will delete it.
If you don’t have a family friendly site, I will delete it.
Now onto the food fun!
Shredded Roast Beef
This is a great recipe. I like it over rice or on hamburger buns.
Ingredients:
3 lbs Beef Roast
1/3 cup Dehydrated Onion
1 can Tomato Sauce (8 oz)
1/2 cup Soy Sauce
2 tsp Minced Garlic
1/2 cup Water
Assembly:
Mix up everything but the meat. Put the meat in the Crockpot and cover with the rest of the ingredients. Then turn it on low all day or over night. Then cool slightly and put all the stock in the refrigerator. Then shred meat with 2 forks (or by hand). Then remove cold stock from frig and remove the layer of fat. Then mix the stock and meat. The Place in muffin cups (use liners if using a muffin tin). Then freeze individually. To reheat thaw (remove paper liners) and microwave or heat on the stove.
That is it! Now add your recipe!
Homeschooling can take place anywhere and any time. I personally have 3 spots that I use consistently to do real schooling (versus computer games, board games, outdoor observations, etc). The first is group activities like art and history activities. That happens at the kitchen table so I can sit everyone up at once and help them all.
Then for the NerdBug (who is the only official schooler) I have him do a lot of work at the kitchen island. It keeps him close enough to observe without sitting on him. I usually cook or clean the kitchen at the same time.
Then we have reading time on the couch. We read history, science books, literature, well just about anything. We all snuggle in before naptime just about everyday and read together.
So where do you homeschool?
Ever wonder how the stars keep everything in place? Well this is one of their greatest secrets. I finally broke down and bought some when I was pregnant with my last child. I had some very cute tops but I don’t know what the designers thought when they made these neck lines. They must figure if you are pregnant you must be a loose woman because that is how you got into this;). Now that I have had the baby I am still using it. It is a nice thing to use so you don’t have to wear a tank, fear slight slippage of the neckline, or (the one I know we all have done) use safety pins to make sure there isn’t gapping. I have put it from shirt to bra and shirt to skin. It works great both ways. It comes in individual strip that you can cut or use the way they come (a couple of inches long). Now I have no idea why I waited to very long. I will never have to safety pin again!
I just want to brag about one of my friends at Bible Study named Carol. She had heard about Berkley and the ill treatment of the Marine recruiters there. She felt that they needed encouragement so she got the phone number of the Berkley Marine Recruitment office and called them. She just wanted to reassure them that this is the fringe and not the majority of Americans. She told the young man that answered the phone that the publics views doesn’t affect the positive feelings we have for the men in uniform. Bravo Carol for not just talking about this issue (as I am doing now;) but actually taking a step to affirm the strength of these young men!
I have found the best Banana Bread recipe so I just had to share. Go over to Tammy’s Recipes and try this great recipe! It freezes great!
Before you go any further, yes I realize that I have made a new word and I am good with that. Prepare to hear it again in the future;).

Ok, I love this lotion. I got it a Costco a couple of weeks ago (for a better deal than Amazon) but I was sad to see that they don’t plan on reordering it. Now for those of you who don’t know me really well, I don’t use lotion very often. I find it annoying because first you have to stop and put it on but then it is greasy and then nothing at all. This one is different. When you first put it on it is a little greasy but after 15 minutes (probably less) it isn’t greasy but your hands are really soft. I even wash my hands. I had let my hands get so bad this winter that you could see the white of dry skin. I tried this at a demo and when I woke up the next morning you could see a difference. So go get moisturized!
I think Valentine’s Day is a challenge for everyone. Do you go out and pay a lot of money, not to mention the crowds? That is IF you can find a babysitter, which is always a challenge in my neck of the woods. So what is the solution? Tire out the kids, feed them early and put them to bed. Then decide on a decadent dinner you have always wanted to eat and make it yourself. I know, I know, it sounds hard but it really isn’t. Here is one of our favorites, Bacon Wrapped Fillet Mignon with Whipped Mashed Potatoes. When we first discussed this (years ago) I was mortified to pay that much for meat but let us really look at it. At our Meat Market it is $14 a pound and you can get 2 good sized fillets in a pound. Compare that with at least $20 a plate and you are saving money. This way it is made how you like it, nice ambiance and no crowds. The other part is that it is so easy to make. First take bacon and wrap it tightly around a fillet. You need to overlap so it may take a few pieces. Then cook it over medium heat in a skillet on the stove. When the bacon is done give the fillet a push with your finger. If it is real squishy put it in a 350 degree oven for a few minutes. Then take the meat out of the skillet to rest. Add a little red wine to deglaze the skillet. When it has reduced a little add a pat of butter, this rounds out the sauce (or gives it a rich taste). For a finishing touch, place your fillets on a piece of toast french bread and then pour your sauce over the top. Pair with mashed potatoes that have been finished with a little cream cheese and enjoy!
Then you have a fancy dinner for a fraction of the price! Have a great Valentine’s Day.
