Foodie Links 10/15

It is a busy week! So I just have a couple of interesting links this week!

The Huff Post has An Open Letter to Starbucks. It is an interesting letter from a homeless person and the role Starbucks plays in their life.

The University of Georgia got a 1.2 Million dollar federal grant to study the nutritional value of pecans.

Cattlemen are exporting cattle to Russia. It is a very interesting yet odd concept in the NY Times.

My 1st GF Baking Project

For those of you who haven’t heard, NerdDad and I have given up wheat. But I am missing baked goods!!! So I am now searching out cookies and breads and the like!

Luckily my friend Megan at the Gluten-Free Project has gone before me. So this week I made her Gluten Free Oatmeal-Raisin Chip Cookies. They were so good!!! I found the batter a little thinner but they were still yummy! Check it out and let her know that I sent you;).

Nieces and Family

I went to a niece’s bridal shower this weekend! This is me and 1 of my other beautiful nieces, Stacey. I can’t believe that she was only about 6 when NerdDad and I got married!

When NerdDad and I got married 15 years ago I inherited a large passel of in-laws, nieces & nephews. It is funny, I remember my mom specifying that these where actually HIS nieces and nephews. Here we are 15 years later. I look at these people, even the ones that are now adults, as MY family.

We have been a part of each other’s lives for so long. We have laughed and, with some, we have cried. I have watched them grow up. I feel so protective of them! They are all just so near to my heart.

That is it, just emoting;).

Geeky Links 10/8

Well, it has been a whirl wind and heart breaking week in the geek world. We will all miss Steve Jobs! He helped to form the computer and geek worlds for Mac and non-Mac people alike. But life will and does move on. So lets go on to our normal geeky links….

I am very intrigued at the whole Facebook RPG idea. This could be very dangerous;).
With the DC reboot and the complaints about new costumes, Comic Alliance talks about Aaron Diaz’s new costume designs for some of my favorite comic book heroes!

The cover article over at Entertainment Weekly is The Avengers!!! Who knew that Joss Whedon knew all the dance clubs in Albuquerque?
